Thursday Movie Picks – Halloween edition: School

For this week’s Thursday Movie Picks, run by Wandering through the Shelves, we’ve been asked to list three to five films that are set in a school for the first part of a special Halloween series of posts.

As usual I have based my selection from films I’ve watched.

The Faculty  (1998, Dir. Robert Rodriguez)

When I read the theme for this week’s post this was the film that came to mind immediately. There’s a scene set in a shower and I remember it so, so vividly. Typing this I can picture it now, and the look on the actor’s face when he pulls his hand away and some hair and scalp goes along with it..!

The Hole (2001, Dir. Nick Hamm)

Starring Thora Birch and a pre-Pirates of the Caribbean Keira Knightly, The Hole follows a group of English public school students who find themselves locked inside an underground shelter after hiding in their to avoid a school trip. It’s psychological and sinister, and well worth a watch.

Scream (1996, Dir. Wes Craven)

I’m sure it’s not only my blog that Scream will appear on, but it would feel rude not to include it. Although I am not particularly a fan of the horror genre, I find the Scream series quite entertaining, particularly as the hairstyles become more and more outdated.

  1. The Faculty is the second time I read bout it, I have not heard of your second pick Bur Scream is a good romp even though it’s pretty chilling.
