A couple of weeks ago, the world had its first glimpse of Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. In the background of one of the photographs were five dwarves. Slightly blurred, you couldn’t make out their features very well.
This week, however, we had our first proper look at Bilbo’s new friends with stills of two sets of dwarven brothers.
Exclusively on Yahoo! Movies, photo 1 reveals Oin and his younger brother, Gloin. Gloin is a familiar name to Tolkienites as he is the father of Gimli, the only dwarven member of the Fellowship of the Ring. Photo 2 shows the brothers Ori, Nori and Dori. Dori is the eldest, followed by Nori. Ori is the youngest.
We are yet to have a peek at leader Thorin Oakenshield, Oin and Gloin’s cousins Balin and Dwalin, Fili and his brother Kili (the nephews of Thorin), and Bifur and his cousins Bofur and Bombur.
However, news from The Hobbit doesn’t end there. Yesterday – Friday 8th July – Peter Jackson released the second of his production videos from the set. Take a look here.
It is a beautiful day outside, the sun is shining but yet… I still have got goosebumps! The video opens will Peter Jackson wishing the cast and crew a happy break as filming on block 1 has just wrapped. During the video it is revealed that as well as returning as Gollum, Andy Serkis is also taking on the role of Second Unit Director. The cast explain what they’ll be up to during their break and the process of location scouting is explained.
