Courtesy of IMDb, Elijah Jordan Wood was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grew up in Cedar Rapids and Los Angeles.
Wood’s debut in 1989 was in Back to the Future Part II. This was quickly followed by roles in Internal Affairs and Avalon. The latter was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Writing – Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
In 2001 Wood hit our screens as Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and the remaining parts of the trilogy: The Two Towers and The Return of the King. To many, myself included, Wood was very well cast as Frodo and his relationship with Sean Astin – Sam Gamgee – was compelling and heart-felt.
His first post-Frodo role was in 2004’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This was followed up by a variety of roles including lead roles in Green Street, Sin City and Bobby, and providing the voice of Mumble in Happy Feet and 9 in 9.
He will next be seen in Happy Feet 2 (2011) and The Hobbit: Part 2 (2013).
