Golden Globes 2011 + Critics’ Choice Awards 2011

  • [AWARDS SEASON] It is just 42 days until the Oscars

The nomination poll closed yesterday and on 25th January the nominations will be announced. We all have a rough idea of which film and actor will be in each category: The Social Network, Inception, Black Swan and The King’s Speech are all expected to make an appearance.

Dubbed a ‘warm up’ to the Oscars, tomorrow night we have the Golden Globesclick here for a complete list of nominees. For a select few, my predictions are as follows:

  • BEST PICTURE (DRAMA): The Social Network
  • BEST DIRECTOR: Darren Aronofsky, Black Swan
  • BEST ACTOR (DRAMA): Colin Firth, The King’s Speech
  • BEST ACTRESS (DRAMA): Natalie Portman, Black Swan
  • BEST SCREENPLAY: David Seidler, The King’s Speech

Just before the Globes, the Critics’ Choice Awards snuck in and last night Inception took home the most awards with six, including Best Action Movie and Best Visual Effects. The Social Network took away Best Picture while, as expected, Colin Firth and Natalie Portman were awarded Best Actor and Best Actress respectively.

  • BEST COMEDY MOVIE: Easy A
  • BEST PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION: The Pacific
  • BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
